Gopher is comprised of the same three elements as the  WWW:

* Servers (containing many different types of files), which together form the entire Gopherspace.

* Browsers, which browse and search information in Gopherspace (like Netscape, Mosaic and others).

* Protocol, which lets you send and retrieve information over Gopherspace (like HTML).
